Carmen Thyssen Museum

The Carmen Thyssen Museum in Malaga is the most complete 19th century Andalusian painting museum in Spain. Located in the heart of the city, specifically in the Palacio de Villalón.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, it has temporary exhibitions. The following exhibitions of the Thyssen Museum Málaga are:

Max Ernst: natural history 
It consists of a collection of plates with which the author proposes to make visible an unusual and hallucinatory dreamlike universe.

Arab Fantasy: Orientalist Painting in Spain (1860-1900) 
This exhibition covers the territories of daily life and the faces of the inhabitants of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

Fortuny Recorder
This exhibition brings together the artist’s main engravings from Enrique Juncosa Darder’s collection. Works mainly obtained with the techniques of etching and aquatint.

Museum Picasso Malaga

Located in the Buenavista Palace houses a permanent collection showing 8 decades of work by Pablo Picasso, born in Malaga in 1881.
Pablo Picasso is the creator, together with Georges Branque, of Cubism. A technique that plays with the three-dimensionality and structure of surfaces. A technique that had many followers.

Calder- Picasso
Calder y Picasso is the first exhibition in Spain dedicated to the creative links between the two masters of the 20th century. An exhibition that aims to explore the void, which both artists approached in their works, starting from the figure and reaching abstraction.

Pompidou Malaga

Since 2015, the Centre Pompidou in Malaga has been the first headquarters of the Centre Pompidou outside France. A living installation with multi-disciplinary programmes dedicated to dance, representation, speech and cinema.

Modern Utopias: 
An exhibition that tells the story of the great utopias of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries through works from the French centre.

Laterna Magica:
The magic lantern is the prelude to film projectors. Through a candle light or an oil lamp, painted images were projected on glass plates.

Museum Russian Malaga

The building of La Tabacalera in Malaga was chosen to house the Collection of the Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg/Malaga, a space of reference for Russian culture in Europe.

Nikolai Roerich. In Search of Shambhala 
Continuing with the line of the museum and its artistic and cultural context. The Collection of the Russian Museum presents a sample of the singular work of Nikolai Roerich aspiring to be a master of peace and spirituality.

Anna Ajmátova. Poetry and life

Space 3 of the Russian Museum Collection hosts smaller exhibitions that complete the main pieces. The exhibition includes portraits of Anna Ajmátova and the men of her life, poems, books and objects to make the great lady of Russian poetry better known.

With the new management of the Unicaja Foundation also comes an exhibition of the painter Sorolla, with more than 111 pieces to the city of Malaga.
