A unique place, surrounded by the dense pine forest that characterises the Malaga Mountains. Undoubtedly one of the most attractive paths of the natural park is in the Ecomuseum Lagar de Torrijos.
Do you know what a winepress is? They are buildings whose main part is dedicated to wine production.
This space dates from the year 1843, a building that is substantially conserved as it was built, and that contains all the instruments that were used for the elaboration of the sweet wine of Malaga.
In the Ecomuseo Lagar de Torrijos the press at the entrance to the museum stands out. In an adjoining room you can see the jars in which the grapes fermented until the must was obtained.
Spread across different rooms of the house you can see farming implements necessary for the exploitation of the area.
After the vine the olive grove was exploited after the invasion of the Phylloxera. An example of this is the oil mill in Lagar de Torrijos.
This space also has a bread oven, which today is used as a leisure workshop.
More than 800 wine presses were in operation at the height of Malaga’s wines.
A building that has 900 square meters and two floors.
